When Lazarus died, Jesus didn't arrive on the scene until several days later. Lazarus’s sisters chided him for not having come sooner to save their brother. After receiving their rancor, he approached the tomb alone and, for the first and only time recorded in the New Testament, Jesus broke down. One has to wonder what triggered the tears. People are born and people die, Koheleth writes, in Ecclesiastes. If you are fortunate enough to get rich and become highly educated like Jesus’s friend Lazarus, he says, you'll be just as dead, when the time comes, as the poor beggar Lazarus was, when he was carried away by the angels to Abraham’s bosom. We are all in God’s hands, in other words, whether for love or hate, we simply do not know. God has a plan for all of us, to be sure, but He leaves us in the dark as to how that plan might work out; which is probably a good thing. When forced to explain the problems of suffering and evil in this life, many Christians say that people are often closest to God when they need Him most, and that people know God best by missing Him. One has to wonder whether the one who wept by Lazarus’s tomb, and shouted, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”, into the Darkness, would endorse their theology.

One Has to Wonder: Do Believers Have a Suffering Problem?
Isaiah 40:21-31, Luke 11:1-37, Ecclesiastes 8:2-17
Who We Are
Shiloh Community Church is a group of Believers who point at Jesus and say, "We can't prove a thing, but there's something about his eyes and his voice. There's something about the way he carries his head, his hands, the way he carries his cross—the way he carries us.”
We believe Jesus when he said, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but by me." (John 14:6) He didn't say that any doctrine or denomination was the way, the truth, and the life. He said that he was.
We are a group of Believers who are on the way, though not necessarily very far along it, and who have at least some dim and half-baked notion of whom to thank.
